Eagle V.1 - Part 2
Transcript
When I saw the size of the wall I got really excited. But it was tough because the whole wall is, ah I think it is something like 90 or 100 feet by 12 or 13 feet wide. So like that's difficult, right? But I was excited because yeah to have an eagle that's coming out in that way, the intention is or I think it is successful in pulling you in and making you think about what you don't see behind that eagle. What else is a part of that eagle that isn't visible to the eye.
And the intention is definitely to capture some of the spirit or some of the power that exists in this bird and where that power lies within the bird's composition. I focus a lot of that on to the face. And I didn't have to exaggerate any of the features of the face. They are so powerful in an eagle, those eyes are so piercing and that beak is so strong and intimidating in relation to the size of its head. And I also am moved by the motion or the beautiful curve that they have in their wing. And that's why those top feathers come curling back over like that because I'm always just amazed to see when they're floating on the air how much updraft they're working against. And you can see that in the way that the feathers bend up towards the sky.
It is a piece that people go looking for and sometimes they can't find it. And I think that... I love that. That really tickles me actually because it's a massive object. And to be able to hide something like that in plain sight is not easy, right? And I think, "Well, I accomplished it". (laughs). I have had so many people call me from down there and say, "Where is it, like, where is it?" I'm like, "Just look up man, just look up. You won't miss it". And once you see it of course, you just can't not see it anymore, you know.
