Scarborough Heroes: A History in Colour
Joseph Osei Bonsu
Description
This artwork will be available from February 7, 2022 to April 30, 2022.
Scarborough Heroes: A History in Colour celebrates Black figures both past and present that hail from Scarborough. From Kardinal Offishall to Robert Brown, each of the 13 framed illustrations will hang inside Scarborough Town Centre telling the story of how each hero is connected to and represents the best of Scarborough. This exhibit launches Scarborough Town Centre’s Black History Month and remains as an ongoing exhibit for several months as we continue to pay homage to these hometown heroes.
An interactive online exhibit includes visual art and downloadable activities/colouring pages for kids.
Born in Toronto, Ontario, Joseph has always had a fascination with the visual arts. His inspiration originates from comic books and animated shows that he grew up watching.
Joseph is the co-founder of Heroes of the World with his long-time friend, Mark Williams. Bonsu also illustrated the children's book Race With Me with authors Andre DeGrasse and Robert Budd.
